As we crossed the boarder into Canada, an awed excitement filled the five of us. Avid concertgoers we are, but when a Dave Matthews Band concert comes along, everything changes. The mood lightens and brightens. Everyone becomes happy. Dave Matthews has a tremendous following. Almost like the Grateful Dead to an extent. People travel from far and away, just to see their awesome stage presence. I have seen Dave Matthews six times now, not counting this show. And every time is a new experience. They generate an overwhelming mood and ambience throughout the entire venue and beyond. Never have I seen them in a coliseum or an enclosed space, only in the great outdoors with the wind blowing and the sun retiring for the night to the west. When the final song ended, the lights stayed off in anticipation of an encore. Lighters held firm and high in just about every hand in the coliseum, it gave a warm glow to the stage. On the overhead monitors above, you could see the band in amazement of the huge crowd, pleading for more. When they finally returned to the stage, the warm glow of the fire was extinguished and the strobe lights kicked in. They played for another forty-five minutes and called it a night.
