My first pep-rally this year was one I’ll never forget. I got to watch and I got to participate, with a little whipped cream in between! Even though it got pretty gross, I had a lot of fun.
The gym was really crowded! The whole school wasn’t even in there. I sat with one of my friends, and just looked around at all the different sections. The “cool” seniors, the juniors, the “softmores”, and of course the “freshies”. How stupid is that name? Anyway, when it finally got started, the girl that sang the national anthem (Lauren Frazer) was really good. The crab costume was a little weird looking, and the football players ran in and made their big speeches. The Sunsations did really good, and the Varsity Cheerleaders were okay. The coolest part was the drum line. They were awesome. I didn’t know so many different groups performed at the pep-rallies! And everyone was really into it, especially the seniors. It was nice to know everyone was rooting for their school. My part came with the senior SGA versus the freshman SGA candidates in a mock football game. Considering when I came to Seabreeze I knew nothing about the traditions or pranks, that included the fact that seniors threw food at freshman (hotdogs this year, and I did not hesitate in throwing them back) and pied them every year. They set us up really good for the pie, because I had no idea there was any foul play. If you asked me, that was my favorite part. Getting whipped cream in my hair wasn’t the greatest feeling at first, but I knew that it would be a great memory.
All in all though, I think the pep-rally was a little boring. The acts needed to be spiced up a little bit, but I still had a good time. Most of my friends thought it was fun too. Bur then again, there’s nothing like your first pep-rally.
