I began each day at Cathedral Day Care with
the flickering of the lights, a drink of water and a circle of
friends. My Senior project was weeks with 5 ,4 and 5 yearsolds

I began my first day with the unexpected.
I)
I wasnt sure if the kids were going to be scared of me or
I was going to be scared of them?
I didnt know any of the kids or their names, but in no time,
those kids were like family.
After the first day, I knew that I was going to enjoy this project.
These kids were like real little, adult people, each with their own personality
each with their own, attitude.
By the end of the project, I had learned alot, about kids, about people
about a business, and about what it takes to be a friend.

One thing about preschool is that you have to have a daily routine
Our routine, began the same way. After our daily morning prayer and circle time
we did went to the classrooms. There we had arts and crafts and a story was read.
Next was the quiet room, and boy did we like that. That is where the kids watched a movie while we
set up cots for nap time. After nap time was my favorite time, LUNCH
Lunch was served to them and sometimes I assisted. Cutting pizza, opening milk etc.
After lunch was nap time, and although I have to admit, I wanted to take a nap a couple of times,
the kids looked forward to me patting their backs, and reassuring them, that they would feel so much better after
they woke up.
After nap time, my day ended. We helped the care givers put away the cots and we were on our way home.
III)
Memorable Moments.
There were many memorable moments each and every day.
I am proud to say that one of my favorite, was when I got a little boy who never took a nap to lay down and fall asleep.
I think the lady care givers were very suprised at my abilities, and I was very suprised at that little boy.
Another memorable time, was when I rode a bus to the Savvis Center and saw Princess on Ice I have to admit that
although that wasnt my idea of a good time, those kids had a great time, and I enjoyed watching them have fun.
The only other field trip that we took while I was there, was our walk to downtown Belleville, to see the St. Patricks
day parade. After watching a few of the kids run into the street to get candy, it was my job to keep them back and corral
as much candy as I could, those kids were counting on me!!!!!
IV)
Cathedral Day Care was a great place to work. I enjoyed the kids very much, I felt like I knew each one
of those kids personally. The three weeks went by in a hurry. It took patience, discipline, and playfulness
to complete my Senior project. I now understand why kids thrive on routine, why they look forward to special
events, and why each person is special no matter who they are.
I hope I left and impression on each child, and that they will never forget Mr. Joe.
