During the career fair last Tuesday night; I had the opportunity to go to three different careers. I first went to the Forensic/ Criminalist session. I found that this was the most interesting because I have always been very interested in forensic science every since the beginning of the CSI series on television. After this session, I’ve have a greater desire to become a forensic scientist. The man spoke of how he enjoys helping people. That interests me, I want to help people rather than just work for a paycheck. He also mentioned that there were few criminalists in the state of Oregon so it would be somewhat hard for me to become a big forensic scientist. This field of profession has always interested me I think that going to the career fair has made it much more interesting.
The second session, I decided to go to the Marine class. I have not always thought of the Marines as a serious profession but I have always been interested in what they are able to do. The Marine first showed a movie that showed us what the trainees go through to become a Marine. It was very interesting to see all of the physical and mental toughness that they must have just to get passed the first week. It also showed the emotion they had when they received the rank of Marine. I thought that was great because I always like achieving something after working really hard. After the movie, the Marine told me about the financial benefits that come with being a Marine. I never knew how much money benefits that they get from serving. They get all medical and dental free while enlisted. I do not know if I will ever be a Marine but it was a very interesting session and have more respect for those Marines.
Finally, I went to the session on Marine Biology. I have always had a love for the ocean and I am amazed by how the ocean system works. The professional taught me a lot about the different fields that I would be able to go into and how much money I would make. The pay is really not that good but I would be doing something that interested me and I would enjoy. I was also surprised by the amount of time it took to become a senior scientist. It would take about twenty years to become one and I would not want to wait that long. I think that going to the career fair was a good experience and I enjoyed it a lot
